Analisten bij Gartner verwachten dat in 2014 20% van alle zakelijke gebruikers niet langer email gebruiken om te communiceren met collega’s. In plaats daarvan zullen zij steeds meer gebruik maken van sociale media: eind 2014 verwacht Gartner dat het “tipping point” van 10% voor cloud e-mail en samenwerkingsdiensten wordt bereikt.
“Ultimately, we expect CECS to become the dominant provisioning model for the next generation of communication and collaboration technologies used in enterprises,” aldus Tom Austin van Gartner. “However, it is not dominant today, it will not be the only model, and it will take a decade or more for the transition to play out. Right now, the list of reasons to move to CECS is long, as is the list of reasons to avoid it.”
